The foundation of Viking Mechanical was laid in the machine room of the USS Midway, where our founder, Steve, served four years in the U.S. Navy. That military-grade discipline defined his approach to the trade. After 20 years of honing his HVACR expertise, Steve launched Viking Mechanical in 2004 with a specific mantra: “Slow growth.”
This deliberate pace ensured that we never outpaced our ability to provide superior customer service. By prioritizing quality over volume, we built a reputation for being the team that shows up on time and gets the job right the first time.
The passion for refrigeration is a family tradition. Steve’s son, Spencer, grew up in the business, accompanying his father on service calls and assisting with large-scale projects throughout high school.
After pursuing studies at Cal State Long Beach, Spencer realized his true calling was in the specialized world of refrigeration and the rewarding challenge of solving complex problems for people from all walks of life. In 2009, after completing his own formal HVAC&R training, Spencer joined the team full-time. Today, he and Steve lead a team of seven elite technicians dedicated to the Santa Maria Valley.
